The Catfish Derby is FREE and open to the first fifty (50) children ages 3 to 12. All children who wish to participate in the Derby must register by June 3rd, 2021. Children must have adult supervision and will need to bring their own fishing equipment and bait (chicken livers and power baits suggested).
Check-in will begin at 8:00 am, with fishing from approximately 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
There will be a limit of three (3) fish per registered child.
Along with door prizes, awards will be made to the boy and girl for the following categories:
- Largest catfish (weight.) 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
- Match the weight, boy and girl.
- Smallest catfish (weight) 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
All caught fish may be kept (limit 3 per child) or released back into the pond. Bring a cooler and line to keep fresh.
A hot dog lunch will be served after the event.

The Catfish Derby will be held at the W.T. “Dude” Bales Pond located at Cherokee Rod and Gun Club, 4280 Reservoir Road in Kingsport, TN. Participants must register in advance for the Fishing Derby by filling out the Registration Form (click to be taken to doc.google.com where the form is hosted.)
