LADIES WINCHESTER

Ladies on Target - Winchester Qualification Program

On the first Saturday of each month, a group of ladies meet on the lower range at Cherokee Rod and Gun Club to shoot the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program

https://mqp.nra.org/documents/pdf/education/training/marksmanship/qualbook.pdf

It is an excellent starting place for new shooters and good practice for established marksmen.  We usually shoot one level of the program each month.  However, the program is on the honor system and self-paced.  If you are unable to attend, you can make it up on your own, or at the next session.  You can hop in at any time because the ladies are at different levels of progression through the program.  We love shooting and when we finish one phase, we select another one to do.  We just enjoy getting together and shooting.  The challenge of earning the patches just adds to the fun.  Several ladies have finished pistol and are shooting the rifle course of fire.

For those who have never been to Cherokee before, come through the gate and down the hill. We meet on the lower range, set-up targets, sign-in and pay the $5 match fee.  We begin fire as soon as we finish setup. The $5 fee is to help off-set the cost of the targets and supplies.  Each lady can decide if she would like to have the pins, patches and/or certificates and purchases her own.  Because of the extremely high cost of postage, we usually consolidate the orders.  All of the available materials may be viewed at

https://materials.nrahq.org/go/home.aspx.

If you elect to shoot under the “Women on Target” patch vs. the regular Pistol patch you can be recognized at the "Women on Target" site https://women.nra.org when you reach Distinguished Expert level.

Any semi-automatic pistol or revolver may be used.  All calibers compete together. Minimum gear required is eye and ear protection, gun and ammo.   (If you haven’t purchased you own firearm yet, I have a couple I will loan, if I know in advance to bring them. It’s first come first served, and you need to bring your own ammo, not reload.)

All shooters work to set-up and clean-up.  We meet at 9:00 A.M.   This is “Women Only,” please leave your helpmate at home.

Thank you and hope to see you soon.
